Christmas celebrations

Our small tree.

This is the humble table. I Dont like to be over extravagant with the table decor. My 7 year old daughter made the centre piece with the help of a friend of mine.

Theres nothing better than sharing the Christmas meal with close family and friends.

Blogging & Christmas

Well i guess i'm not so good at this blogging thing. Promised myself that i would try to add something eveyday. Have I? Have i bob!!. Why do I do it, cause i doubt anyone ever reads it except me, hehe.
Most days i dont figure that there is anything exciting happening to write about,,,,apart from work that is. Boy thats not exciting at all just extremely busy.
Its the season when churches are most busy getting ready for the celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. My church is no exception. We had our Christingle service this past Wednesday, The normal Holy Communion on Sunday morning and the Carol Service Sunday evening. 3 services next Sunday,, morning worship, crib service in the afternoon and midnight communion,,somehow i dont think i'll be making all 3. Christmas day another Holy Communion.
The pressies are all bought, just food to buy, which i'm dreading cause it will chaos in the supermarkets and i dont do so well in crowds. I get very claustrophobic and am prone to panic attacks,,yuck!!

I've sort of run out of time. If i dont get back on to blog again before Christmas. I wish all of my blog readers (IF THERE ARE ANY) a very merry christmas and i pray that you will experience the Joy of the Lord in abundance at this special time.

IF TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME

If tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me;

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too;

But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,

And said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye,
For all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die.

I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all that we shared,
And all the fun we had.

If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
Would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss some tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,

He said, "This is eternity,
And all I've promised you."
Today your life on earth is past,
But here life starts anew.

I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each day is the same way,
There's no longing for the past.

So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart "

Thank you Lord

This is a testimony of how God protects us in response to prayer.

Yesterday, Wednesday our small church housegroup went along to vist the not so sunny Skegness in Lincolnshire.
We prayed for the Lords travelling mercies before we set off. We arrived safe and sound singing praise songs as we travelled.

The beach was a bit bleak to say the least, the tide was out and it was cold. But nevertheless the children took off socks and shoes and tried to build sand castles. They even ventured into the sea for a paddle. A great lunch of the traditional fish & chips was had. Most of the attractions were closed for the winter but we found a couple of rock shops open, so we purchased some to bring home with us.

We set off for home around 3.45pm.
We had travelled quite a way when we pulled on to a very busy dual carriageway. It was on here that the engine suddenly cut out. The diesel guage showed that we were not quite on the red. This is where we knew that God was truly with us as we managed to coast a few hundred yards to a lay by. as far as we knew the only one on that stretch of road. The engine wouldn't start again. Fortunately we could see a petrol station in the distance. In all of the miles we had travelled we could have been stranded miles from a layby or a petrol station. The Lord was watching over us. The men went off to try to get diesel and we the ladies prayed some more. We asked God to keep us in the minibus safe and for the men to return safe and sound. A busy dual carriageway in the dark is not a good place to be stranded or to have to walk down.
We kept in touch via mobile phone and they arrived safely back within the hour. A mechanic followed minutes later. He had a look at the engine and declared we werent out of diesel but a filter in the tank had come loose and had caused air to get into the engine causing it to stop. he tightened it up, bled the air out and we were on our way in no time.
All praise to God for his protection as it could have been much much worse.

So folks remember in whatever you do remember to pray, i believe that it saved our lives yesteday.

Thank you Jesus!!

Apologies

My sincere apologies to anyone who is looking for my profle on this blog.
Not sure how i have managed it but it seems to have moved from the right hand side,,top of page,,to almost centre at the bottom of page.
Once again sorry.

Recipe for kindness

Fold two hands together
And express a dash of sorrow
Marinate it overnight
And work on it tomorrow.

Chop one grudge in tiny pieces
Add several cups of love
Dredge with a large sized smile
Mix with the ingredients above.

Dissolve the hate within you,
By doing a good deed
Cut in and help your friend
If he should be in need.

Stir in laughter, love an kindness
From the heart it has to come,
Toss with genuine forgiveness
And give your neighbor some.

The amount of people served
Will depend on you,
It can serve the whole wide world,
If you really want it to.

Have a blessed day !!

Remember

* Remember that your presence is a present to the world.
* Remember that you are a unique and unrepeatable creation.
* Remember that your life can be what you want it to be.
* Remember to take the days just one at a time.
* Remember to count your blessings, not your troubles.
* Remember that you'll make it through whatever comes along.
* Remember that most of the answers you need are within you.
* Remember those dreams waiting to be realized.
* Remember that decisions are too important to leave to chance.
* Remember to always reach for the best that is within you.
* Remember that nothing wastes more energy than worry
* Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful
stroke of luck.
* Remember that the longer you carry a grudge, the heavier it gets.
* Remember not to take things too seriously.
* Remember to laugh.
* Remember that a little love goes a long way.
* Remember that a lot goes forever.
* Remember that happiness is more often found in giving than getting.
* Remember that life's treasures are people, not things.

May God bless your day with peace, joy and love.

Two Horses

Two Horses

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing.

Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing.

If nearby and listening, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to her halter is a small bell. It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her.

As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see how she is always checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly walk to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him astray. When she returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, she stops occasionally and looks back, making sure her friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping others see.

Good friends are like this. You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.

Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours.

Have a great and Blessed day.

Tomorrow is not promised

Sometimes people come into your life
and you know right away that they were meant to be there,
they serve some sort of purpose,
teach you a lesson
or help figure out who you are
and who you want to become.

You never know who these people may be:
your neighbor, child, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete
stranger
who, when you lock eyes with them,
you know at that very moment that they will affect your life
in some profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you
and at the time they seem painful and unfair,
but in reflection you realize
that without overcoming those obstacles
you would have never realized
your potential strength, will power, or heart.

Everything happens for a reason.
Nothing happens by chance
or by means of good or bad luck.
Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer
stupidity
all occur to test the limits of your soul.

Without these small tests,
whether they be events, illnesses or relationships,
life would be like a smoothly paved straight flat road to nowhere,
safe and comfortable,
but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet who affect your life
and the successes and downfalls you experience
create who you are,
and even the bad experiences can be learned from,
In fact, they are probably the poignant and important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart,
forgive them,
for they have helped you learn about trust
and the importance of being cautious to
whom you open your heart...

If someone loves you,
love them back unconditionally,
not only because they love you,
but because they are teaching you to love
and opening your heart and eyes to things
you would have never seen or felt without them.

Make every day count.
Appreciate every moment
and take from it everything that you possibly can,
for you may never be able to experience it again...

Talk to people you have never talked to before,
and actually listen,
let yourself fall in love,
break free and set your sights high...

Hold your head up because you have every right too.
Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself...
for if you don't believe in yourself,
no one else will believe in you either.

Create your own life
and then go out and live in it!
"Live Each Day As If It Were Your Last...
Tomorrow is Not Promised"

Have a blessed day.

A week in the life of....

A brief week in the life of a church administrator.

Well it's November 2nd and so far i havent been up to date with my blog. Not really got much to say so far. Even so i really must try harder,,,,but who reads these rants anyway. Please comment if you do.

Work still very busy. Have our Church Magazine "The Grapevine" to get out this Sunday so have been in editor mode this week. If anyone has any good ideas to put in it i'm open to suggestions. Will be im manic panic mode tomorrow. Will have to photocopy, fold and staple 80 copies of it. Around 28 pages in each. I'm praying that the good Lord will provide a copier that can do all that for me.

Also had to prepare Marriage registers for a weddding on Saturday. Along with various other jobs like letters, minutes, agendas etc etc.

Parents evening last night,,,,,,what a bore that was,,,waited for 3/4 of an hour for the teacher to have nothing to say except the usual settling in well and have no real concerns.

Church PCC Meeting this evening, going to take minutes.

No rest for the wicked!!!hehe

The story of the bathroom

Phew nearly there!!

Who would have thought that decorating a small bathroom could take so long. Well it has me this week, almost all week in fact.

Monday

Take everything out and take down cabinets etc. Couldn't get raw plugs out no matter how hard i tugged without loosening the plaster,,so in the end DIY SOS got the hammer and hammered them further into the wall and filled in the holes with polyfiller. Then leave it to go to a speaking engagement.

Tuesday

Prepare surfaces wipe down walls and sand paintwork no problems so far!! Put 1st coat on ceiling. The ceiling i should say here was once a dark blue (not my choice). " coats of white had so failed to cover it. Well here i go,,,,,balancing on edge of bath,,,oopppsss nearly went there. Which idiot put silicone around the top of tiles on top of blue paint uuggghhhh. Wont cover at all so i have a nice thin strip of blue around a lovely cream ceiling. Put 1st coat on walls. Not too bad but needs another.

Wednesday

Had to pop into work to pick up a couple of books,,,,,then really had to hit the supermarket,,,,no food in fridge. Then had visitors in the afternoon. Work done zilch. Worked late into the night putting on gloss. Tried to cheat by rollering the back of the door,,,not such a good idea as i have now managed to get gloss paint on the floor. Had a cover on the floor as well.Mission impossible to get off. More unforeseen expense as i may need to get new laminate.

Thursday

Got 2nd coat on walls eventually in between the phone ringing and more visitors who just turned up. Question: Why does the phone always ring when your up the top of the ladder? Looking good so far nearly there. Now whats left? Oh yes the BIG clean up and putting everything back. Think i will leave that til the morning. Will need to think about how i'm going to get the new cabinets up without a drill hhmmm. need help me thinks.

Watch out for a pic of the new look room when i get it dressed so to speak, this may take a while hehe.
I need another holiday to recover now.!!

Fire Mountains - Lanzarote

The Fire Mountains on Lanzarote

I think these photos show just how awesome the raw nature of God can be. It was a sight that truly blew me away. It's so unspoilt by mankind that it just makes you more aware of how we are destroying this perfect planet that God has made.

What a day!!

what a day i've had today.

It all started last night really. I had been asked to speak at a Church's Ladies Fellowship before the summer holidays. I had said yes and rightly or wrongly had been expecting some sort of confimrmation in the post.
At 9.30pm last night i got a message on the answerphone asking if i was still going.
It is half term this week si i had to find some childcare pretty quick. hence ring my oldest son who said yes. Brilliant Thank you Lord. My son rang me back approx 1 hour later to say sorry cant do it have to go to work,,,noooooooo.Too late to reply last night i rang this morning explained the situation. No problem, bring your daughter along..ok thinks I. Will see you later.

Put the phone down,, yikes i had nothing prepared. Well God its down to you I said?
Prayed about what to say,,,nothing really sprang to mind so decided to give my testimony and wing it so to speak. Whatever happens it has to be the Lord.

Well when i arrived at the church the room was full (well about 30) of older ladies. I gulped, what would they think,,my testimony is not exactly nice in places. Well Lord i'm sure you know what your doing. I spoke for about 30mins about my life and my walk with God along the way. as i was talking i noticed that a lot of the ladies were nodding in agreement. Well Lord this must be from you i thought.

At the end i had the opportuntiy to chat with a couple of them and thay told me how much they had enjoyed it and that some of them too had gone through trails, torments and turmoil in their lives, but they had stuck by the Lord and he had bought them through as well. They even invited me back another time.

What i guess i am trying to say is that being faithful to God brings its rewards. He knew exactly what he wanted me to say and put the right words into my mouth. The afternoon was a great sucess and i feel very blessed to have been in such company.

All thanks and praise to God.

More Delirious - Music and Video this time

Just so awesome. This track always moves me.

Now is the time

Wow what a fantastic evening my friends and i had on Wednesday. We travelled down to De Montefort Hall in Liecs to see the most fantastic amazing Delirious in concert.

The guys were on top form as always singing their latest music. Their latest cd/dvd Now is the time was available for sale. It was well worth the pennies they charged. My daughter loved it and wants to go next time. She is a little young at the moment.

Hi There

Well hello one and all.

Welcome to my blog. Will hopefully try to keep this as up to date as possible, but am not promising. Sometimes lifes too short to be on a computer all the time hehe.
